Zoho Inventory Implementation: Multi-Warehouse, Shopify and Amazon
Zoho Inventory implementation for a multi-warehouse, Shopify and Amazon business comes down to three decisions: your location structure, your SKU master and how each channel maps to stock.

A Zoho Inventory implementation follows one order. Pick a plan with enough locations and Shopify stores, clean your SKUs, set up locations, then connect Shopify and Amazon and test live orders before go-live. Zoho’s Inventory Jumpstart covers standard setups. Webhooks and custom functions need a partner or developer.
Zoho Inventory Implementation Starts With the Right Plan
In short: Your plan sets hard limits on locations, orders, users and Shopify stores. Check them before you design anything.
For any Zoho Inventory implementation, start with the India prices on Zoho’s Zoho Inventory pricing page and limits from its plan comparison page. Prices are per organisation per month and exclude GST.

Premium is where most multi-warehouse Zoho Inventory implementation projects land. It adds serial and batch tracking, barcode generation, bin locations, picklists, stock counting, workflow rules, webhooks and custom functions. Enterprise adds putaways, move orders and replenishment.
Need more room? Zoho lists add-ons billed yearly: extra locations at ₹600 a month, users and 500-order packs at ₹399 each, and Advanced warehousing at ₹4,165.83 a month.
The 7-Step Zoho Inventory Implementation Order
In short: Settings first, locations second, items third, channels fourth, automation last. Changing that order causes rework in any Zoho Inventory implementation.

Zoho lists matching currency and enabled taxes as prerequisites for every marketplace integration. Items come in through CSV or TSV import in three steps: configure, map fields, preview.

Multi-Warehouse Zoho Inventory Setup With Locations
In short: Zoho now runs warehouses through Locations. Design the structure on paper first, because Locations cannot be switched off once enabled.
Zoho’s Locations guide describes two types. A business location acts like a head office or branch and can have child locations, up to five levels deep. A warehouse location only tracks stock and cannot have sub-locations.
- No undo: once Locations is on, you can only delete or deactivate a location, not disable the feature.
- Admin only: by default only the Admin can enable and create locations. Users can be restricted to the warehouses they work in.
- Number series: each location can have its own transaction number series.
- Deactivating: an inactive warehouse freezes its stock, so transfer stock out first. A warehouse with transactions cannot be deleted.
Get the location map signed off before anyone clicks Enable. It is the one Zoho Inventory implementation step you cannot undo.
Stock moves through transfer orders, which need at least two warehouses. “Initiate Transfer” keeps stock In Transit until you receive it. “Transfer and Receive” moves it at once.

Shopify Setup in a Zoho Inventory Implementation
In short: Use the same email in both apps, and decide item, customer and warehouse mapping before the first sync.
Zoho’s Shopify integration guide connects your store from Settings, under Shopping Cart. The settings that matter most for Indian sellers:
- Same email: use the same email ID for your Shopify store and Zoho Inventory.
- First sync: Fetch Stock Counts runs only once, during the initial sync. Set the Import From date carefully.
- Customers: map all orders to a single customer, or use custom mapping.
- Warehouses: choose single warehouse or map Zoho warehouses to Shopify locations. By default, stock across all warehouses syncs as one total, so 20 units in one warehouse and 10 in another show as 30.
- GST names: in Shopify, use only SGST, IGST or UTGST as tax names. Zoho warns that orders fail to sync otherwise.
- Store limit: 1 Shopify store on Free and Standard, 5 on Premium and above.

Amazon Setup in a Zoho Inventory Implementation: FBA, FBM and GSTIN
In short: Amazon needs matching currency, clean SKUs and careful location mapping. FBA orders sync only when a location’s GSTIN matches.
Zoho’s Amazon India integration guide covers both FBA, where Amazon stores and ships your stock, and FBM, where you ship from your own warehouse.
- Item matching: map by SKU or name, SKU only, name only, or both. Use SKU only when your SKUs are clean.
- Valuation: choose FIFO or weighted average cost.
- Locations: sync all locations, or map one specific location.
- FBA locations: only business locations can be FBA locations. A default Multi-Channel Fulfillment location lets you fulfil non-Amazon orders from FBA stock.
- GSTIN rule: FBA sales orders link to a Zoho Inventory location by GSTIN. If no GSTIN matches, the order does not sync.
- Tax type: IGST, or CGST plus SGST, is set from the FBA location address and the customer’s shipping address.
- One-time import: the initial order sync runs once. Changing the date later only works if that sync failed.
If you hold GSTINs in several states, map each FBA location to the right Zoho Inventory location before the first sync. Otherwise, FBA orders from that state will not reach Zoho Inventory after your Zoho Inventory implementation goes live.
Channel Rules That Prevent Overselling
In short: In a Zoho Inventory implementation, Zoho holds the master stock and pushes it to every channel. New products flow from the channel into Zoho, not the other way.

Zoho Jumpstart or a Zoho Inventory Partner?

When to Hire a Zoho Inventory Consultant
In short: Hire help when your data is messy, you sell from several GSTINs, or you need logic that Zoho’s settings cannot handle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I turn off Locations after enabling them?
No. Zoho warns that Locations cannot be disabled once enabled. You can only delete a location or mark it inactive.
Does Zoho Inventory create my Shopify or Amazon listings?
No. Per Zoho, new items flow from the channel into Zoho Inventory, not the other way round. Create listings on the channel with matching SKUs.
Why are my Amazon FBA orders not syncing?
The most common cause is a GSTIN mismatch. FBA orders link to a Zoho Inventory location by GSTIN and do not sync without a match.
Why do Shopify orders fail to sync in India?
Check the tax names in Shopify. Zoho accepts only SGST, IGST and UTGST, and orders with other tax names fail.
Do I need Zoho Books with Zoho Inventory?
Not always, as Zoho Inventory has invoicing. Add Zoho Books when you need full accounting. Both share one organisation.
Can I import my existing items and customers?
